Learning Activities with my Children ( DD 29 months and DS 9 months)

I would like to start this topic to keep the track of Learning Activities with my Children ( DD 29 months and DS 9 months).

I do not want to start the blog, I will share our progress here on the forum in this thread.
I have been keeping a Progress diary of my DD using Soft Mozart program; http://softmozart.com/forum/33-progress-diaries/731-2-year-old-isabella-learning-with-soft-mozart.html
and it helped me a lot to stay organized , I got tons of valuable feedback and my experience helped a lot of people to understand better how to use Soft Mozart curriculum.

The updates will be short, with list of activities and progress made, if any.

So a little about my children:

DD, 29 month at the moment:
LR, started at 4.5 month, went through 1 year curriculum
YBCR from 6m, done all DVDs
Signing Time 12m to 18 month
Whistlefritz, Speekee, TweedleWink, PreschoolPrep…
Knows shapes, colors, numbers, letter sounds, sight reads 300 to 500 words from LR and YBCR, does not read phonetically yet, LOVES books and puzzles and dolls

For the past 9 month (since my son was born) we haven’t done much… My DD forgot some things, but we started back our program on January 1st, and I see it all is coming back to her

DS, 9 month at the moment.

we haven’t done anything organized with him so far.

Oh Nadia what a wonderful idea! If enough parents are interested I would love to do a “book” profiling early learners. I could collate all the skills parents are teaching and the methods they are using and profile the children and the successes they have. Perhaps it could be the key to sending this movement mainstream…
Anyway Nadia I feel terrible all this time we have been talking and I never realized that you have a son! How could I miss that!

Really lovely thread - I will be reading with interest

Oh Nadia you are a star and have inspired me yet again! Karma to you for some great ideas. I will check out those maths apps right away

Thank you, Anna for your interest!

Yesterday my DD read a book by herself for the first time!

I am sharing videos, list of program used and goals for the week on my blog!

http://learningmorethanever.blogspot.com/2012/02/reading-program-update-2.html

Congrats Nadia, how excited !

I liked the books but they do not ship to Slovakia >:(

How often do you let her watch preschool prep?

Thanks

Nadia,

CONGRATULATIONS to your beautiful Daughter and of course to you.
I just watched the video of her reading and I had tears in my eyes.

Melanie

Lelask and Melanie, thank you very much for the interest and the kind words!

@ lelask
I was showing each DVD just a few times. She saw the “Sight Words DVDs” when she was 18 months, and could read all of the flashcards.
But at that time she was not interested in readers-books, I was thinking to sell them… And just for the past 2 weeks I showed her DVDs one at a time once or twice,
and it all came back to her, she knew all her 47 Sight Words. I do believe that Preschool Prep Series made a huge difference for us.

I just posted update about our Chinese Language Program with a video of my DD recognizing Chinese Characters.
She does not know them very well yet but we are making a progress.
http://learningmorethanever.blogspot.com/2012/02/i-have-to-confess-that-both-me-and-my.html

Wow, Nadia! I was so delighted to see her reading Chinese! She is making excellent progress! Keep the updates coming!

Thank you very much , Anna for the words of encouragement!
You and Ella are such inspiration for us

I just posted an update 3 on our reading program:
http://learningmorethanever.blogspot.com/2012/02/reading-program-update-3.html

@ lelask

I liked the books but they do not ship to Slovakia

you might try to search on ebay , and ask the seller if they would ship to Slovakia.
Today I was browsing for easy readers and found this auction:

Hi Nadia! It’s been a long time! So happy to see the progress your angels have made. You’re doing a fantastic job! Preschool prep videos also helped us a lot. Cammie was fascinated by it before and so is Soren now (4mos old). It’s just that sometimes, the voice-overs sound very stern that sometimes my baby boy would get startled and cry. I wonder if sounding the voice-overs that way has a purpose?

Hey, V  !

So great to have you back!! I was wondering how you guys were doing!
Congratulations on your Baby Boy Soren!!! When I was watching Cammie’s speed-reading video and heard loud baby-babble - quick thought passed through my mind that must be Cammie became a big sister, but I never expected for it to materialize lol
I will PM you my e-mail, so we can stay in touch!

I did not do anything structured with my son until he turned 9 months, so I am sure you will be way ahead of us.
At the moment I am doing LR/LM/ LCh/ Reading Bear and Signing time with him…
