What do you give to kids 2.5yrs old for constipation & cough?

Hi,

any remedy?

Thanks.

For constipation mums here use Prunes. They do work. For babies you stew the prunes and give a very small amount ( small teaspoon or less) mixed in bottle or on a spoon. Then monitor the results building to the right amount. For a two year old I would just give prunes as a regular snack option. 2-3 prunes here and there or 1 each day if it’s an ongoing problem.
Constipation is usually a result of not getting enough fibre in the diet…lots of fruit and vegetables will fix that. But sometimes is a result of formula milk. Many parents just offer the child more water between feeds.
Children under 2 arnt given cough medicine as they can potentially not cough when they really need to and drown on their own phlegm. So seek natural remedies ( as you should consider as a first step on most occasions) the optons for under 2 are fairly limited and it depends if the cough is chesty ( warm shower and tea tree or eucalyptus oil on the pillow or diffused into the air) or dry ( never had a dry cough in a little kid so no idea!)
Hope that helps.

Or you can also visit the pediatrician if the constipation and cough still persist.

I usually give plums for constipation and a lot of liquids (as it is said above that can be the reason).
As for the cough - inhalation is good.

Fresh bottled apple juice is excellent for constipation - also you can get to rub their little tums starting clock wise for a couple of minutes every day. Some freshly squeezed orange juice is also excellent!! coupled with lots of fluids meaning lots of warm water…that should also help with the cough!!!
