What are the best DVD's for early education?

Hi all

My daughter has the TW DVD’s and we are looking for some more DVD’s which she will love as much (preferrably Right brain DVD’s. Can anyone recommend any?

She also loves the Little Pim DVD’s

hi sarah108,
i’m not sure if the cd’s i used were rightbrain oriented,
but i used preschool prep series, leap frog series, sparkabilities, ybcr (sparkabilities and ybcr are right brain oriented)
with all these cd’s my sons vocab and the fluency improved a lot and lot…
now i allow him to watch the noddy cartoon.one has to be choosy in showing the cartoons as most of the cartoons nowadays are so so violent!!

I believe Baby Bit are also right brain flashing but they might only play via computer, not DVD player in the U.S.

vanichezhiyan,
At what age did you start YBCR?
I play the youtube version of sparkabilities to my grandaughter every time she visits and she just LOVES it. She is 4 month old now.
Thanks.

Baby signing Time my daughter loves it. Her vocabulary has improved and also she is talking more words for her age…

Sparkabilities is a huge hit in our house - unfortunately we only have the you-tube episodes until I get a multi-region dvd player (we’re in the UK). If you want RB foreign languages, the Wink DVDs are also a huge favourite with my son - he demands his Chinese several times a day.

My son couldn’t stand YBCR - I don’t know, maybe it was not fast enough for him.

And there is always the computer-based options of LR/LM if you’re happy sharing your PC with baby!

Thanks everyone, karma to you all for your help!

hi 2010 babies,
I started using ybcr when my son was around 6/7months. sparkabilities is so good too,i got it recently and though not for his age(now he is 2.5years),he enjoys all the series,babies1/2,toddler1/2.
keep going…and enjoy…

Do you guys think that the Babybit, mentioned above would be useful for my 2.5 year old son? I’ve just checked the website, it looks interesting. But also a little pricy (at least for me, right now). If anybody had used for sale, I would be happy to buy them especially #3 and #4.

My son loves the MonkiSee MonkiDo program. http://www.monkisee.com/ They also offer Memoflix dvds which are packed full with video flashcards. You can purchase them separately they are on sale right now.
He also loves Sparkabilities but his favorite is Readeez. There are coupons for Readeez available in the coupon store on BrillKids. The creator is quoted as being the “pied piper of Phonics” http://www.readeez.com/

He also watches Little Pim for Spanish and Chinese about ten mins. on alternating days.
Boca Beth for Spanish.

I am still waiting for the brainy baby dvds I ordered the left and right brain dvds.

I guess it depend on your child’s age and personality.

I rotate between YBCR, sparkbility and Elmo. I think she learns so much from sparkbility, thus it’s my favorite. YBCR helped her start talking so I think it’s more of a left brain then right brain. Elmo is fun for her and she does copy some of the things from it but not whole a lot.

Thanks for the ideas on this thread, I just ordered sparkability for my son as it look great, can’t wait to get it
Can I ask why you started with TW DVD’s and how did your child find these? My son is 11 mths, would they be suitable for him? I am interested in them but they are very expensive.

I just saw those online http://www.babybumblebee.com/store/main_store.cfm did not try any of them. but i thought they are good for babies.
did any body used them. am interested to try KicsFlixs DVD’s http://www.babybumblebee.com/store/KicsFlix_DVD_Set.cfm but could not see any previews??

These are my favorites, used after YBCR:

  1. Brainy Baby (ABCs, 123s, Shapes and Colors)
  2. Preschool Prep Sight Words
  3. Kids 2020 Dolch Sight Words
  4. Munchkin Math
  5. Wink to Learn language DVDs

I am using preschool prep phonics dvds. I thought that the sight word dvds would be the same words that monkisee and LR teach. I am not sure though.

There are many types of DVDs for th early education. One of my favorite among them was The school House Rock… The Preamble to the constitution is alone worth ten times the price. Much effort was put into producing this fun, singable series, so let our kids reap the educational benefits. The songs on adverbs , conjunctions, adjectives ,numbers and more are unforgettable.
