Using fluorescent colors when teaching kids

Hello

Does anyone know any negatives in using fluorescent colors when teaching kids? I was told by a pre-school/nursery teaching that she was taught this when she studied teaching.

Like the decorations used in the class…

I wouldn’t imagine there’s anything really wrong with that, it might be worth searching on the internet to see if anyhting comes up.

There were harmful chemicals in some fluorescent paints when I was a kid…I think that might have been the concern

i did search up but guess am not searching correctly, so far no success… and nikolett I’m talking of the papers

Certain colors can trigger disabilities that some children have. For example terrets syndrome, certain colors trigger this disease and make it worse. There are different colors that help with learning as well for children without diabiliies, look into color therapy. I stay away from red, and hues in the red family due to my experinceing with teaching that this color can make children nervous. The color of green aides in the help with asthma. There is a lot to using colors in teaching. I normally use green or blues.

Wow, I didn’t know that. I am getting ready to do more research on that…

Do you also know that YELLOW is the most memorable of all the colors?
Whenever you want to remember something, jot it down on yellow paper.
That is where I got the idea to paint my son’s study room yellow. I sometimes thought that I will make flashcards using yellow papers.

I’ve just read it from one of my books here.
I will post more later regarding color therapy. I think this will somehow benefit us.

Though fluorescent colors / papers are eye catching and i have not come across anything which says against use of such colors, but its advised that we use soothing colors for the eyes of our child. There are certain chemicals added, whcih give that special effect, which may harm the child. Dark, too bright colors are also not advised.

I had observed that my daughter (and many other children) differentiate between and recognize different colors very late at a higher age, as compared to recognizing other things like animals, vehicles, shapes, etc, which many parents & teachers confirmed. Hence its better not to use such colors at younger age.
