I got a note in my son’s lunch that he is no longer allowed to bring toddler MumMums because the second ingredient is sugar. LOL there are only 4 ingredients and 2 cookies only contain 1g of sugar. I thought this was a nice desert at the end of his lunch that is not sugar loaded. To me this seems silly to ban an item that contains 1g of sugar. Especially since he has so many allergies, plus there organic. Plus the baby room kids are still allowed to have them but not the preschoolers. What do you think?
I looked up the mummum’s and they look like a teething biscuit. I would talk to the daycare and see what their concerns are. If it is that kids with too much sugar are too hyper then I don’t see how one gram of sugar will affect that. On the other hand, if they are concerned about other people’s children getting ahold of the biscuit then I can see their concern. Some kids have genetically poor tooth enamel and their parents have to be very cautious about what to feed them. Or maybe it’s a regulation the daycare has to follow.
My guess is the other children are crying for them.
Don’t worry about. Maybe they think is too much(i know is not) but let them be. Preschool teacher think any little sugar affects in kids behavior…and it a big deal for them to control these kids once they are on sugar…besides the poor teachers have at least 12 kids for class.
MAYBE you just should explain that to your childcare provider…Next time I think will be nicer she to tell you this kind of thigs face to face…I think is really rude this kind of notes…special in daycares…is not like they have 30 kids for class(like in schools).
I have being a preschool teacher and I really have no problem with kids eating some sugar…even we all know kids need sugar on her diet.(of course not too much).
Kids sometimes will bring a hole donnut or a hole pachage of oreos, mac donalds almost evryday…etc. Then I will be concerned. But like I said a tiny bit of sugar…came on people…what’s up with that?
They still refuse to let him have them because they “look” too much like a cookie. Even though there more like a rice cracker. I mean my son has to watch other kids eat foods he can’t have because of allergies, and they all eat crackers and cheese around him. But he has one thing that “looks” like a cookie but is not and there banned because it might upset another child. Like come on its not like he’s eating jube jubes infront of them.
I don’t know, I mean I understand not wanting parents sending junk but if its not they should not be allowed to ban it because it “looks” like something. I send him a dried fruit bar that looks like licorise but thats ok. I don’t know he’s been bringing these there for 2 years and suddenly there not ok… whatever.
Does your son have a wheat allergy?
I think that is ridiculous. If I were you I will let the childcare provider what I think. They should focus more in kids education instead of your child 1 gr. sugar cookie. Like I say it is not like he is eating 20 gr of sugar.
I will explain my point to them and let them know they are being silly and if other kids don’t have the same snack oh well. Kids need to learn how to respect others kids snacks…
