The Book of Knowledge

I am wondering if anyone used it in their EL journey. There is description I found here, and apparently it is highly valued among classical ed homeschoolers.

Yes! Oh yes! My mum had an old set from her childhood. I read them when I was a kid. I especially remember making a paper town from instructions in the book.

As a kid I also love the ChildCraft encylopaedia and I have the set for James and I still love it.

I also have another set of encyclopaedias I love to read to James also It is called The Young Children’s Encyclopaedia.

What I love best about these encyclopaedia is that they read aloud so well. Of course some of the information is dated. But the writing is not dumbed down and it is not cut up with lots of pictures. I have an aversion to Usborne Illustrated, DK or Kingfisher encyclopaedias.

Korrale4kq, correct me if I am mistaken – I heard it has some good info on manners and etiquette as well, right?

Honestly, I haven’t read the book of knowledge since I was a kid. I probably last read them when I was younger than 10 or so.

i bought one child craft book : the green kingdom for my kids and was planning to get the rest bit by bit . Well i just got the whole set for free from a missionary family working in Gambia who said we don’t need them have them . i was so happy , what are the odds that i would find them in our end of the world where nothing i really mean nothing can be found . my kids love them .
