starting at 3 months

Hi,
I hope this topic or one like it isnt already posted but I have been on the internet for way too long to keep looking for a thread and through the categories. I have read some threads that mention “my 1.5 year old” and “my 18 month old” but no one talks about the 3 or 4 month old babies. There seems to be results with the older children but what about the younger ones. I dont expect to see results right away but am wondering how will I know she is taking to it so that I can continue with little reader? I dont want to go for a 1 year on little reader to find out “oops, okay, we had fun but no progress.” and then move onto another program. I would rather start a new program earlier.

thanks- Brittany

You can definitely start at 3 - 4 months. A lot of people do, in fact many of the programs used are made for 4+ months.

Actually the sooner you start the better - the easier your baby will learn. I have almost 3 months old baby and I thought it was good to start with regular reading and math programs at the age of 3 months. I just figured out - reading Domans book and recommendation on the internet - that I could have started earlier (I have stimulated babys vision with black and white (and red) flashcards so her vision is now mature enough. So I immediately started all programs a few days ago even if my baby is not 3 months old yet…

thanks so much for the reply.

I was wondering about my daughters sight actually. I had been showing her flash cards but didnt think she was very interested(maybe I just got er at the wrong times); then, I taped some of them on her swing and have tried to switch them up often engouh so she doesnt get bored. This has worked for me, thankfully. However, I didnt know that she could see red yet…Do you know when they start to and if you have found information on the internet about that could you send me a link (if its not too much)

thanks again for the reply.
Brittany

Great site with a lot of information:
http://www.childandme.com
and of course www.brillbaby.com

Do bear in mind, though, that even if you start early, it’s unlikely you will see any signs of word recognition until 9-12 months of age, and more likely later than that.

Many have reported that their children showed no signs until one day they suddenly started to read a whole bunch of words.

Hi Brittany, thanks for starting this thread. I had the same doubt in my mind …and KL answered it for me as well… I guess we’ll just have to wait a few months and find out!

thanks Brittany for staring this topic.

thanks all for your advices its very useful.
