Soft Mozart Skype Group Call: Hellene Hiner and students - interested?

Soft Mozart software owners and learners,

Hellene Hiner agreed to ariel’s idea of having Skype Group Calls with her students. It’s a good opportunity for those of us who don’t have a piano teacher to ask nearby.
We’re starting this weekend 22nd - 23rd of September with the English speaking Soft Mozart students (people using Soft Mozart software) interested in watching Hellene teaching online and wanting to learn from her. She can teach online up to 10 members at a time as she has Skype Premium installed.

Here’s the link to the disscussions on this event: http://softmozart.com/forum/5-suggestion-box/5562-skype-group-call.html

I’ve made a table to help us organize things. We’re using Texas, Houston as local time reference as we’re coming from different parts of the world.
Hellene said she has time on Saturday, after 2 p.m. and on Sunday.
Here’s the post with the table and I shall attach it here too.
http://softmozart.com/forum/5-suggestion-box/5562-skype-group-call.html?limit=6&start=18#5730

If you’re interested, you can fill in the table with your Soft Mozart member name or Brillkids member name, the Texas, Houston time interval that you can attend and give me a private message on either forums. My member ID is andreasro on both of them.
Also, you can write your choice here in the thread or on the Soft Mozart link above.

As the time difference may be considerable, and to organize things easier, please give an answer as soon as you can.
I’m sorry and appologize I haven’t thought about writing here ealier. This time is just the first time anyway, we’re all learning and see how it goes and improve things the second time.

Also, please feel free to ask.

Andrea

You know that you can use google hangout and to not be limited by Skype Premium?

It works the same as Skype, excerpt no need to pay for premium account and no limitations on the participants! Hope this helps.

Also if you use Google Calendar to plan the event you can put the timings in your local time, but when you share the calendar with others ( who also can put timings in their local time) it would convert timings automatically and would show it on their calendars in their local time! Very handy

Thought to share some of these tips with you and wish you all a wonderful time learning!

Thank you Skylark  ! Didn’t know any of that. I’ll forward your message to Hellene and others.

You know I didn’t think to post it here either! Don’t feel bad  You are doing a marvelous job organizing it.

A BK member said yes already after posting here! Come on Soft Mozart people, let’s gather together!

Some of us maybe are doing things at home with SM but haven’t got the time or maybe the courage to write on the SM forum or ask Hellene.
Well, here’s an opportunity - no writing, just talk and piano play. Hellene is a teacher that knows how to cheer up and help people in learning, boost their self-esteem
She will be able to see us all, and we’ll each see her
It’s hightime we took advantage of the tech solutions

Great idea! I have lots of question. Count me in, please!

here’s what Hellene announced us on http://softmozart.com/forum/5-suggestion-box/5562-skype-group-call.html?limit=6&start=24#5758

“during our Skype meeting I will be showing you how I work with 4 people (they are also members of our forum! Remember, mom of 5?) It will be a lesson with a preschooler, with a 1 grader, with a teen and their mom!”

And on newsletter:
“This coming Saturday, September 22nd, at 2 PM of Houston, TX time Hellene Hiner invites you to the video Skype meeting. She is going to provide a lesson with a small group of kids and their parent and answer your questions afterwards. This is our first meeting and we are very excited to meet with you!”

Ok so I think that makes it 5am, the morning of my daughters first slumber party! I doubt anyone will be up, but we might get up early for the next one. Would love to watch Helene in action. Even though we probably don’t need the help as much as some. It should be a wonderful opportunity for those of you with no teachers close at hand. Enjoy!

I would like to join too. Let me find out what the time will be in central europe  It is probably the same as yours Andrea are you in Romania?

Welcome k100! I’ll add you to the list! Is 2 p.m. (Hellene’s time) OK?

Welcome lelask!

Here’s Hellene’s time: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=104, GMT-5 now.
You can search yours there, in the city search box
I’m GMT+3 now, Romania.

Anyone interested in Soft Mozart can join the call

As soon as I have “how to” detailis, I’ll let you know.
Mainly Hellene adds us to her video conference.

Keep you all posted!

Andrea

Latest news: http://www.softmozart.com/forum/5-suggestion-box/5562-skype-group-call.html?limit=6&start=42 (I have sent details in private to the BK members interested.)

And news from the wonderful mom that agreed to have this Soft Mozart special session video call: http://www.softmozart.com/forum/56-progress-diaries--/5797-were-back-after-summer-break.html

Andrea

Though Skype couldn’t handle :frowning: the willing of people to connect, Hellene has uploaded  the recordings from the piano session with Pianomomof5’s family. Here is the first of 6 videos she has uploaded so far:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3K0Iz1-AP4U&feature=plcp

And this experience made Hellene take a big decision and offer Soft Mozart users and learners a free-if-charge opportunity:

"After ‘Skype group conference’ I feel like we really have to start our Skype sessions, but after making appointment and having 2-3 callers at a time (better 1 on 1, of cause!).

I am willing to dedicate my time for such sessions every Sunday.

They are going to be free of any charge with a view to help parents and teachers to make their lessons more effective.

It also will help me personally to be in touch with our forum members and on top of the most sore problems in our teaching/learning experience.

What do you think?

Another question: I can dedicated up to 4 sessions for 45 minutes. We need to come up with the most optimal time frame to cover different time zones. For instance: from 9 AM-12PM, 10AM - 1 PM etc.

What do you think? "

Andrea

Hi,

Hellene has stared 1-on-1 video calls on Skype each Sunday. Here’s my feedback after our meeting with her (my oldest son was around and even played the piano on his will  ) http://www.softmozart.com/forum/20-hellene-hiners-blog/5933-skype-session-30th-of-september.html?limit=6&start=18#5981

Yesterday she had Skype session with people from USA, Europe (Western and Eastern), and Russia

Andrea

Thank you, Andrea, for helping!
Yes, I am available most of the Sundays for Skype conferences (my family is not very happy about it, but oh well… )
Please, feel free to add me as soft.mozart
I love to meet Soft Mozart students and moms and be able to help them with their questions/home practice
