I figured you all would appreciate this. As “breaks” or “interludes” between some words in WatchKnow Reader, we’ll show these 15-20 second videos which zoom around great works of art while playing great classical music. I made these myself and had altogether too much fun doing so.
Hi Larry, these are great. I liked the way the art pieces and music chosen kind of linked together, it makes them both come alive on screen. I will be showing these to my son to get a greater appreciation of art and music.
Just showed my daughter these to my daughter she loves them. I like them to its so great to show them art they we may never get see in the Art gallery.
Like the combination of classical music and Ken Burns effect, – good attention keeper.
Just an observation: I had mixed feelings about the text ( name of the art and music pieces), it is great for a parent, in our case I just softly read it as each piece showed, but for a child I think it is a bit distracting. How to do it differently? I am not sure. In current application, I think it was arranged in the best possible way though – the least distracting, neat in the corner, good enough for parent to read and not too in a way of an illustration…
Thank you DadDude! Are you planning on making more?
Dad Dude,
What a great idea of mixing art and classical music. I enjoy a lot watching them and will show to my grandson. I think the musical piece you select for each is very appropiateI can visualize the Meninas dancing to the Minuet.
Excellent work.
Make more? It’s possible. We had to pay good money for the rights to the music (necessary since this going to be part of an app & we don’t want to be sued), and I used 80% of the stuff in the package that I thought was sufficiently “famous.” There’s a lot of religious-choral music I didn’t include and many religiously-themed paintings, of course, so I could put together one or two just on religious themes (though #6 already has some of that). Of course, if I had no scruples (or worries) about swiping music, then I could probably make 20 more of these sorts of videos…
What I’m thinking of doing, though I’m too busy these days to do it anytime soon, is making a version in which the musical snippets are 30-45 seconds instead of 15-20. A few people convinced me that the shorter versions were better for the limited attention spans of little kids. H. saw some 30-second versions and said he preferred the 15-second ones.
My girl, likes music and fascinated with paintings, so having longer musical snippets would have worked well for us personally, even my little boy (8 months) watched them and it kept his attention, he actually cried when we stopped
