We use a lot of audio books in our house! There are many places to get sets, but you can also buy just the audio to books you have or library books as well. If you use Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Books a Million, type in the book you are looking for and then add + CD. This will show you whether you can purchase them as a set or separate. You can also simply search for audiobook sets by authors or by age.

There are also lots of FREE resources and downloadable audiobooks. ITunes has lots of children’s favorites, and here are two sites that you can download audiobooks for free
http://librivox.org/
http://www.booksshouldbefree.com/

I have also found that many local libraries have a statewide audio database where you can download
audiobooks for free as a library card service! They also have physical copies at the library to borrow.

The Henry and Mudge Audiobooks can be downloaded here as well:

Lastly, we have ordered a couple of sets similar to the ones at Lakeshore from Discount School Supply…I
would post a link to their site but this is the second time I have had to rewrite this posting because it keeps deleting when I go out to copy and paste more than a couple of links! Aaarrrggghhh!

As an aside, anybody know why this happens or how to prevent it? Is it a time-out thing? SOOO exasperating :frowning:

than you alot Kerileanne99
those information are great esp that i can put the downloadable story book in a CD and attach it to the actual book in a pocket.
Karma to you

Kerileanne, I get around that “dissapering post” situation by always opening another window to go looking for a link. On the Ipad that means being quite sure you have enough empty pages to open a new one.
Also I have successfully hit the post button twice and the text popped back up and posted and once i hit the back button and got my post back! But you arent the only one who has retyped the whole lot  if its a long one just post it and then edit the link in strait after! then you dont risk losing it all.

Kerileanne,
i would like to know where did u get your set of books with CD if u figured out how to post it .
Thank you

We actually have bought many, many sets, although a lot of the time we end up downloading a story read-a-loud, then matching the ISBN to purchase the corresponding book.
However, I have bought collections from these vendors as well:

http://www.discountschoolsupply.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?Product=28139&rec=PDHbot

These are links to specific sets I have purchased, but both companies, Discount School Supply and Kaplanco.com sell lots of various sets with favorite children’s stories and audio as well.

Let me know if you are looking for anything specific…

Ru’a,

If you like the reading level of Henry and Mudge, you might also like these audio collections of Arnold Lobel’s books (Mouse Tales, Mouse Soup, Frog and Toad, Owl at Home, etc). http://www.amazon.com/Arnold-Lobel-Audio-Collection-CD/dp/0061899690/ref=pd_ybh_1 These are audio CDs only, but the books are very easy to find.

Ella also liked to listen to

These were great for the nights when both my hubby and I had to be on call at the hospital or post-call when we were too tired to read a single word. lol
