Hello , no more clapping girl or boy is appearing , just an empty sceen and the dots falling down on the rhytm… we miss the boy/girl/mom/dad. What might have happened???
Thank you for you help!
I encountered more than two weeks already issues with Little Musician particularly on the clapping part. There was no person appearing on the screen, only the objects falling at the side. The sounds are ok we can hear it playing. But now it has become worst, we cannot see a thing on the screen. It is totally empty but there is a music or sounds. Hope you can help us fix this problem. Many thanks in advance!!!
Hi kathlien76,
Please try these as an initial solution:
1. Install the latest version of Flash Player (ActiveX)
a.) Download Flash Player 20 ActiveX by following this link: https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/20/flashplayer_20_ax_debug.exe
**If the link doesn’t work for you, go to http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html and click on the link named “Download the Flash Player content debugger for Internet Explorer - ActiveX”
b.) Once you’ve downloaded the installer, double-click on it and follow the prompts in the install wizard to finish installing Flash Player ActiveX.
2. Repair your Microsoft .NET Framework by following the steps here: http://support.brillkids.com/entries/20432481-how-to-repair-your-microsoft-net-framework
3. Install all available updates for your Windows OS
For Windows 10:
- Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security
- Under “Windows Update,” click on the “Check for updates” button
- If there are updates available, choose to install those updates
(Some Windows Updates may require restarting your computer.)
After trying the steps above, check if you can now see the clapping boy/girl in your lessons.
If it still doesn’t work, do let us know and send us your Diagnostic Report so we may continue troubleshooting:

For yuiastra, we’ve been corresponding through your support request. I will get back to you shortly regarding your last message.
Hi everyone,
We’d like to inform you that we are still investigating about this particular issue.
In the meantime, so that you can continue the lessons, you can turn off the “character” display (clapping boy/girl). This way you will just see the falling shapes in full screen.
To turn off the “character” display:
-
Open Little Musician and go to PLAY COURSES or PLAY & EDIT
-
Select the specific Semester and Day you are in, then highlight or click on the Clap-Along lesson item (e.g., “Mary had a little lamb”)
-
To the right of the PLAY button you’ll the “Show” heading, with two buttons below it - click on the button with a smiley icon on it to turn off the clapping character. (see attached screenshot)
Alternatively, you can turn the character display off during playback:
-
Once the Clap-Along lesson starts, hover or place your cursor over the bottom of the screen.
-
The blue play control bar should pop up. From there you can click on the button with the smiley icon to turn off the clapping character.
If you prefer to use Override, just follow these steps:
-
Open the Override Settings window (click on the cog button beside the Override button)
-
Go to Clap-Along > Display
-
Switch on “Character” by clicking on the box with a red circle inside (after switching it on the red circle will turn green)
-
Click on the dropdown beside “Character” and select “None”
-
Once you’re done with your other setting changes, click Save.
We hope this temporary solution helps!
Thanks Kezia, thorough instructions as always. My 2yo little girl misses the figure but we can live with it:-)
Hi everyone,
We have prepared a couple of updates to help resolve the video and clap-along issues in Little Musician:
Content update - all Flash videos have been converted into mp4 format (for all Knowledge lessons). This way any Flash and Windows updates in the future would not cause the missing video issue again.
Software update - Little Musician’s built-in Support Tools was updated with a video-troubleshooting function which corresponds to the new video formats used in the updated content. The new version also includes a fix for the missing clapping boy/girl animation during Clap-Along lessons.
The new version of Little Musician (1.6.860) was released last night, Jan. 26th. You should get a notification pop-up about the update when you open Little Musician, but in case you didn’t get the alert, you can download the installer for the new version from your BrillKids account (Account > Purchases > Little Musician Software).
Once you’ve downloaded the installer, run it then follow the prompts to update Little Musician. You don’t need to uninstall the current version you have.
Next, update your music curriculum by re-downloading it from your account page (Account > Purchases > Little Musician Curriculum & License Key).
After updating your software and curriculum, try playing any lesson and confirm if all videos/animations now work properly for you.
If you need further help, please do send us your diagnostic report via the Support Tools window, or as an email attachment to support(at)brillkids(dot)com.
The clapping child appears, but I noticed that there is no longer an animated person playing the instruments … that screen is blank, except for the word of the instrument in small at the bottom and the sound of the instrument playing. Has this been removed in the last couple years, or is this a glitch? Thanks!
Hi queriquita! Please try suggestion #3 (installing the K-Lite Codec Pack) in this article: http://support.brillkids.com/hc/en-us/articles/204598754-The-Videos-in-the-Little-Musician-Lessons-Aren-t-Playing-Back
If that doesn’t help you can try the other suggestions (#2 & 4), or send us your diagnostic report so we can troubleshoot further.
