Pinterest is an online pinboard!

Hello everyone!

I did a quick search on the forum for the word pinterest so I thought it was safe for me to make a post on this wonderful website since the results came back “No results found”.

I have found so many early learning ideas to use with my toddler thanks to this site. You can find almost anything on there. Here is the link to the website http://pinterest.com/. For those who may have not heard of this site before, if you have a FB account, you can log in using that to avoid the longer process of registering and just write any topic you are hoping to search for in the search engine.

This is an example of what comes up after searching “home school” http://pinterest.com/mistyblue4u/home-school/ and “language arts” http://pinterest.com/search/?q=language+arts.

For those of you who may already be quite familiar with pinterest, please feel free to comment on any topics/subjects/keywords you normally browse for in regards to EL in case I have missed some. I’m obsessed with pinterest.

Hope you enjoy !!

I’m surprised this post didn’t get any replies. Perhaps Pinterest has gained momentum since this was originally posted. I am a Pinterest addict and it’s actually what spurred me to get into a more structured EL program rather than what I was doing. Plus lots of homemade craft ideas and everything you can imagine. Love it!

I can’t believe how few people have responded! I was hoping to start following a ton of BrillKids parents. Oh well.

Mine is at http://pinterest.com/kballent/

Kballent thank you!!! Your pinboard is fantastic!!!

Mine is fairly new, so I don’t have a lot on there yet. Not much EL stuff, I’m afraid, as my 3.5 year old is already working on 2nd to 3rd-grade materials across the board. Here it is: http://pinterest.com/aangeles/

@ Aangeles - I have begun to look at Latin programs as well, still deciding on a program. Have you seen this handy chart? In case you have not. http://www.homeschoolchristian.com/curricula/reviews/latincomparison.php I was excited that some offered DVD’s and searched for demos on youtube but found them a bit dull. anyway, thought you might find it useful!

Not totally sold on this one, but it’s the first very child friendly DVD I have found. There is a sample clip, but I think my kids might find it boring. http://dinolingo.com/languages/latin.html

Thank you for bringing this topic up again. Great ideas !!! Karma

@ TMT - dinolingo is very boring for ‘active toddlers’ and up. I consider it more appropriate for babies
@ Luvn4 - thank you!!!

Yeah, I think my son might go for it but not my daughter. But since they don’t have access to broadcast TV, I can get away with educational stuff a bit longer even if most kids would consider it boring. So, I am still looking but considering the option. I haven’t looked for any child friendly latin apps yet so maybe that will be the answer. And I found a few more here as well. http://www.redshift.com/~bonajo/latincurricula.htm
