Piano Marvel - Midi Keyboard Interactive Software

Just ran across this today- $15 a month. I like that the lessons are sequential so it is very step by step. They offer a free trial so I am going to check it out today.

Updated to say that if you go through this blog link, it takes you to the trial page and gives a 20% discount ($12 a month instead of $15). After downloading, it wil ask you for your user name and password. I didn’t remember creating a user name (because I didn’t, it didn’t ask me for one when I registered) but I used my email and password and that did the trick. After logging in it says “you have 30 days left on your trial.” Just wanted to add that because I got slightly stuck until I figured out what it was asking me. No credit card was required to download the trial.

i downloaded the trial today and got my 10 year old to try the program
she love it and so do I .

I just made it through technique 1-A and got my first gold trophy for completing a level, wooo-hoo! It’s actually pretty fun and I really GET reading rhythm now! It’s probably a simple concept, but I’ve never experienced it one on one. Usually it’s clapping along in a kids music class for a couple times, but sitting here with time to focus and experience it while hitting the piano keys made it hit home. Cool!

Here’s one of the videos embedded in the first lesson. I actually skipped it and went straight to the playing part, but I am watching it now. Might not be exciting enough for little ones to sit through 8 minutes, but if they have a decent idea of the basics from LMs or are quick learners with “call and response”, they might be able to skip it as I did.

This program is designed for ages 6 and up, although one of the creators is using it with his 5 year old. I really like it, however, I think my kids are just a little too young for it. And my main issue is that the notes don’t “stop.” However, I did learn that this curriculum covers everything taught in a basic college piano class, so that is very appealing to me. I took the trial and am still on the fence if I am going to subscribe for myself or if I will wait until the kids are older. We’ll see!

I did want to share this video though, it’s so inspiring! All of these kids learned/practice with Music Marvel Midi connected instruments. It’s like “Rock Band,” but the real deal!

I have also been trying this and absolutely loved it. I have progressed to level 3 in a week and a half so it’s brilliant for impatient people like me! Although it would be lovely if they can come up with a simpler programme to teach younger children e.g. age 3. As mentioned above, it’s designed for older kids.
