Physically Super Toddler in Winter!

Now that the weather is getting horrible cold and I hardly feel like being out, and we have colds, what can I do with my 18 month old for physically superb activities? Before it got so cold out we tried taking a half hour walk each day, but it’s just too cold! Or am I a wimp and others are still out there doing it?

We have a balance beam inside but that only takes up 5 minutes or so!

It is cold here today too. We got out the crawling tunnels & made a game of that.

Do you do any brachiating/hanging? That can easily be done indoors.

Forward rolls, Backward rolls, log rolls

Play with your child by having him (?) copy your movements, like jumping, skipping, balancing on one foot, throwing a ball, doing star jumps, and copying all sorts of weird poses, maybe even yoga-like poses etc. etc.

It’s very cold here too. Can’t wait for summer!

We just signed up for a Diaper Gym class. It’s every Friday for 40 minutes at our local high school. It includes climbing, jumping, running, bouncing and balancing. Skills also will be taking turns, coordination, self esteem, self confidence, problem solving, following directions and learning to work with others.

I would check to see what your local community and library offer. We’re always going to library events, including story time and attending a music class www.little-folks-music.com and that was physical fun.

I also like Mymo’s Adventure Fitness DVD’s. We don’t have the DVD, we just get small samples of it from cable.
