phonics or single word or both

hi everyone. its been a week since i started teaching phonics to my 10m/o son and he`s doing good.
my question are, should i finish phonics before introducing single word to him? or should i teach him both at the same time ? and what about letter names?

can anyone suggest the correct sequences :frowning:

my suggestion is to teach letter A and its sound then you can go for words

Hi!

Your son is 10 months old right? It’s a good age where kids ca’t have any pressures on him. so, it’s better not to screw at his toddlers stage, if you want to teach you can start but keep a limit on it, so that he may not get confused on what he is learning.

Moreover, there are many video series for phonics and I have came across through a search, just look over it.

You’re teaching phonics to a 10 month old? Do you have any knowledge of babies and their development? For your child’s sake, play with him, talk to him, sing to him. Read him baby books. When he’s four, find fun ways to learn the alphabet. Between five and six, teach him to read using phones and sight words. BTW your son is doing well. He may do some good one day. You might want to brush up on grammar.

What we’ve done in the past is work on letter and the letter sound. For example, A makes this sound and make an apple craft. It might not seem like it but in a year or so they pick up so easily and everything makes a lot more sense. I have kids telling me past crafts we made for that letter which I thought they were just so lost during the time! After that definitely work on sightwords, trying to sound the words out etc., and slowly progress to reading books!
