Phonic Story Books

Can anyone recommend some books that emphasize phonics for beginning readers? So far we have some of the LeapFrog Tag Learn to Read Phonics books, the Biscuit Phonics Fun series (very affordable.) My twins are actually reading these books and I would like to find more that are similar. I have seen lots of other books online, but they are so expensive and I would really appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!

There is the Curious George Phonics box: http://www.amazon.com/Curious-George-About-Phonics-Margret/dp/0618956700/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1298815582&sr=8-1,

Thank you for all the suggestions, I never knew there were so many options. I was able to find several of these suggestions at the library so I can preview them.

I found the Sounds Like Reading series by Brian Cleary at the library that is working really well for us. They aren’t exactly story books, because there isn’t a continuous story throughout the book, rather they remind me more of Dr. Seuss books especially “Hop on Pop.” On one page they illustrate 3 rhyming words with small pictures, and on the opposing page they use the words in a sentence with an accompanying picture (see attached photo.) I ask my children to help me by suggesting they read the “big words” then I will read the “small words”; usually one will be eager to participate. Sometimes, if the kids are in the mood, they will even read the whole page. With the previous books I mentioned they were only interested in reading a couple pages at a time or would refuse to read more often. This series is so far the best fit for encouraging my twins to start reading.

Has anyone seen similar books? Thank you.
