Nursery wall art ideas pls.

I’m planning to decorate my child’s room, trying to find the right decor at affordable price.
I’ve visited many local shops but all are too expensive.
Can anyone please help me to find the lovely Nursery Wall Stickers & other accessories?
I’m also looking for Lampshades, if anyone can please suggest me the right place.

Thanks.

If you wish to be hardcore Doman, what about basic black and white squares on a wall(s). You can add in outline picture as baby grows. 2 packs of paper and inexpensive.

Weegalary.com sells some black and white art cards that are pretty cool.

Or, just use the infant stimulation cards from brill kids.

You could then add any colour you wanted, maybe a pink or blue lampshade depending on th gender.

If I had to do it again, I would have done something zebra and hot pink for my DD and black and white dalmatians & firetrucks for DS. But that is not an option, so anyone else reading this can feel free to steal my ideas. Giant montessori style world maps and abcs would be a great addition, too. And low mirrors all around and barres to pull up on, almost like a mini dance room set up, as can be found in some montessori centers. Or maybe include abc’s (letters), 123’s (abacus & numerals elsewhere), and do re mi’s (a grand staff), all made out of rainbow colors with the rest of the room primarily black and white. Or even a big print of one octave of a piano.

Here are some ideas that i found was nice

Wow, cute ideas. I love the abacus! I’m not good at cutesy. One thing we did with my older kids was put a mirror on the floor for babies to see themselves in. That’s a Montessori thing. We loved it! Until we broke it. I want to replace it and haven’t gotten around to it. We also put a full-color map above the changing table.

Yeah we have a map in the toilet…it is the most visited poster in the house…with or without business to do lol
I would LOVE a full sized wall map like 3 metres square size! I have a wall for it even!
Yes to the mirror, hours of use there.
We had removable alphabet wall stickers around the wall. They were very popular with the kiddies. It was important that they were removable as we were renting then.
Using removable stickers you could make a great giant infant stimulation card in room size! eBay and other places sell circles and squares in different colours. You could buy red and black circles and do the whole room then remove it and add more colour when baby is older

Thanks …Super cute idea

love the abacus ideas

We used room mates stickers from amazon and found they were ok. We do have orange peel walls, but except the thinnest stickers, they all seem to stick well. They have a few different alphabet varieties if you are after those. But they also have a great range of all sorts of other stickers like trees, animals etc.

I also loved this. I never thought about it  Abacus in the bedroom would be great.

I’m trying to convince my husband to let me ‘decorate’ our hallway too - such a lot of wasted wall space in my opinion!

I am hoping to include:

  • a display for artworks with string and pegs, like this photo

http://i-cdn.apartmenttherapy.com/uimages/ohdeedoh/2008-09-dignitet.jpg

  • a daily planner. Initially this would be very basic, but include a length of wall representing the day. I’d try to show night vs day, with dark/moon, blue sky/sun. We could add other weather icons onto this (eg clouds, rain, wind). Then I’d have it broken into morning, lunch, (nap), afternoon, dinner/bath/bed etc. I want to put photos showing what will be happening each day. Unfortunately my daughter is currently looked after by 2 different day care centres and her grandparents while I work. So I thought it would be very confusing to her not knowing what is happening that day and who will be picking her up etc. So if I could show those photos and even the activities she would be doing that day (with photos of the rooms at each centre etc) then she could prepare herself for the day better. Eventually I would add more details such as day of week, date, month, season etc, and it would end up like a traditional planner you would see in a primary classroom etc.

  • also a book ledge. But I’m hoping this will fit into the bedroom or the family room. I have already purchased Ikea Ribba picture ledges to use. I read somewhere that research showed children were more likely to read if they could see the front cover of the books. And of course I want to encourage that. If any one has more details on the specifics of this, I’d certainly be interested.

  • somewhere I want to put a hook for coats, hats, bag, lunchbox, shoes to foster independence. But our hallway isn’t wide enough for this, so I’m not sure where it will end up.

  • and of course somewhere to display various posters. At the moment we are using doors for this - alphabet and numbers. But I’m also interested in displaying posters of the maps, human body, solar system etc as time goes on. I like the idea of using the toilet door lol

  • umm what am I forgetting. Oh wall space is required for magnet boards. I have a board already. I wanted to set it up similar to this picture, with shoe storage bags containing the various magnetic items (letters, animals, marble roll tracks etc). I dont think this picture is a magnetic board, but thats the overall concept I want to use

  • and a felt board for telling stories, dressups etc. Something like this

I’m not going to have any wallspace left! Oh I did see a good idea that you could do the felt cutouts on a glass sliding door instead. If you use the thin felt, when it is dampened slightly it sticks to glass. I can’t find the blog post about it right now but that’s definitely an option.

Ok enough rambling

This post is really informative for me to know about various nursery wall art paintings. I also like to decorate my child’s room, but I want to decorate rooms with some themes like sports, cartoon, animals etc. Kids always like colourful room with great baby furniture.

Amazing wall stickers!! My kids are going to love this. Keep posting such more creative stickers.

The one idea decorate room kid from bidycandy home design
The Art makes to kids gentle and have a imagin my kidroom have a lot of a picture , animal, book.

I just redecorated DD’s room so you’re in luck!.

I created a few sticker prints from Shutterfly and also saw their Wall Art options and printed a few of those. This way you can make your own prints (I know I’m too picky to ever find anything I like lol )

Other than that we tried to include a lot of things that were intellectually stimulating, but fun too. She has a chalkboard wall so she can draw, a bookshelf we painted together, and a few play instruments.

We have a wall mural nature’s harmony with really cute animals and alphabet stickers.
I really liked the abacus and map ideas.

Our change table butted its foot end up against a bookshelf. This bookshelf had a nail hammered into the side from who knows what or when. On a whim, I used the nail to hang a whiteboard from. This was one of the best things I could do for diaper time! Just like the map in the bathroom, it was seen several times a day. I would write words or draw shapes on it and my son got repeated exposure to concepts we had been looking at in LR or other early learning programs. I’d recommend a whiteboard - after the clean diaper is on, put little socks over your baby’s hands and let him/her wipe off the shapes - at first it would be just exploring the “now it’s there, now it’s not” idea and then later in his/her development say “Where’s the square? Can you wipe it off?” As a reward for not squirming on the change table and with your close supervision, you could even let him/her draw his/her own lines and squiggles.

Not a decoration, per se, but we love blackout curtains. Helps with nap and bed times!

A cheap way to get the nursery art you want is by making them your self. You will need scissors or an x-acto, & clear adhesive covering. Go online & find some free pictures of cartoon characters, cars, trains, bows… etc. Then print them out. If you have Adobe Photoshop (cost) or Paints (usually come with your cp) on your cp you can personalize the pictures you found online or just make them larger or smaller. You can also uses your photoshop or paints to make your own shapes. You can make them what ever color or size you want… Print them out & cut around the pictures.

You need to cut out two pieces of adhesive covering slightly larger then your pic. One to put on the bottom of the picture & one to put on top (like a sandwich).
Step 1- Take the adhesive covering (leave the white paper attached) & lay the paper side down on the table.
Step 2- lay the pic on top of the adhesive
Step 3- take the sec piece of adhesive & peel the paper off. Place this piece on top of the pic sticky side down. (Rub your fingers on & around the pic.)
Step 4- You can cut around the pic but not to close. Leave some adhesive surrounding the pic. ( you want them to stick together while holding the pic inside)
Step 5- You can put them aside until you are ready to decorate.

You can buy the adhesive covering at Target, Walmart, Kmart & a few other places. They also have other brands that sale this product.

I hope what i wrote was not to confusing.

Hey! I just figured out how to add attachments. To give you an idea of how the stickers look I took some pictures of two of the many DIY wall stickers I made for EA room. Its been a little over two years and not one has come off. (The camera i used does not take good pic’s. I just hope you can see it)

I’m not a painter, but i painted a very large tree on the wall of our child’s room. I looked at youtube for some ideas and then I got stickers of leaves and other wildlife, and stuck them to the branches.
