Natural labor pain relief

Before giving birth to my second baby I searched information also about pain management during labor and delivery and I found some interesting video series that helped me to be better prepared. Together with using acupressure points it really helped me to manage giving birth very well.

A wide variety of natural labor pain management techniques may be used to ensure a smoother birthing. It’s quite common to use different methods throughout the different stages of birth. There is no magic answer here. The best method is to listen to your body - your preferences will change throughout your birthing - be open to new ideas. The most critical labor pain management technique is relaxation. Relaxation is the foundation of a comfortable natural birth.

And here is the promised video series:

Thanks for the post. My sister expecting in August so I will forward this to her. I have had 6 natural deliveries, so pain has always been a concern. I have found that drinking raspberry tea really helps the uterus get ready for birth, making for a faster and easier delivery. I also found that 5W capsules help everything ripen up for labor. You take it the last 5 weeks of pregnancy. They are herbs that are really beneficial for pregnant women. And lastly, Evening Primrose Oil is great to take and insert in the last weeks of pregnancy. It helps the cervix to soften up. You can look this up online, but hopefully it might help someone.

I listened to recordings of sounds of woods, river and birds accompanied by calm meditation music during labor and I could not belive myself how tremendesly it helped me to cope with pain. After very warm shower I lay down on my side and listened to those sounds and I was breathing deeply through contractions and visualized opening my cervix. I did not have to moan at all (even if I had to before at the begining of opening without laying down and listening to relaxation music and sound of nature) and I was resting with closed eyes and calm almost all opening… I believe in meditation but I was really suprised myself how tremendesly it helped me!!!

I used hypnobirthing techniques according to the Mongan method (http://www.amazon.com/HypnoBirthing-natural-approach-comfortable-birthing/dp/0757302661) . Also, I had a TENS machine and listened to Quran a lot ( http://muxlim.com/videos/7homam/1-surah-al-fatiha-the-opening-recited-by-mishary-rashid-english-/ )

Pupisek, excellent post, great resources, thank you! I used music with the sounds of the nature as well, it helped tremendously! Also being in the warm pool of water and using blends of essential oils. I used TENS machine with my second for brief moments I was not in the pool  , but nothing compares with warm water and essential oils and music!

With the increasing desire to have a second baby in the near future, your info helps me, thank you! I gather more to make a better experience next time

You are welcome!!! I am glad I can help.

Pupisek, can you please name some of those recordings you used? I’m really interested…
