Have you seen these belts? I was just online ordering my son the next size up belt as he outgrew his old one and thought parents here should know about it. 
They are great because kids can undo them without help because they’re only velcro. They even have adult sizes for those with special needs which I thought was just great!
Anyway, we have been happy with them, if your child needs a belt these are a good option. Last time I got DS a sports canvas belt and this time a brown leather, but they also have “early learning belts” like the one below. lol The picture better demonstrates how they work.
