My new blog on having a go at teaching geography

I’m sure she had fun, but that looks like a lot of work for you!

I wish we could get our kids together. H. is learning about South America too.

Cutting out the countries was not hard work but finding information on each country’s native flora and fauna has been more work because I am looking for pictures with words has been more difficult.

I am not at this stage going into a lot of depth with each nation as Miss S just would not tolerate that at the moment, but she is enjoying learning about each flag and some of the native flora and fauna and she is learning the most important part as to where each country on the map goes.

It would be great to get the kids together. Sometimes having other kids around really helps.

Ps If you ever end up learning about Australia let me know and I see what I can do about tracking some material down for you.

What a great idea  Your daughter must have had soooo much fun. I want to do the activity and Im 31 lol
Karma to you for sharing

I enjoyed putting it together. It was fun.

here is an update http://intellikidsdownunder.blogspot.com.au/2012/02/stab-at-teaching-geography-update.html

We have finished South America here is the blog http://intellikidsdownunder.blogspot.com.au/2012/03/geography-map-is-finished.html Hope you enjoy

WOW! What a fantastic idea!!! Maybe that might be a good summer project for us. Where did you find the great map before you blow it up?

Neat!

We’re almost done with our study of South America as well. Finished Venezuela today, we begin Brazil soon, and that’s the last one. (We’ll read the True Book & the National Geographic “Countries of the World” book.) As a final thing we’re reading In the Land of the Jaguar, which is OK–very heavy on history and natural history, not so much on landforms & politics.
