My 2-yr old son's reading progress

Hi,

I’m happy to update you that 2-year old Zach has progressed in his reading and enjoys a variety of books and stories. He reads phonetically and comprehends very well for his age. He loves doing his own story-telling and has a wide vocabulary too. We are always grateful for LR and the many advice and inputs from parents in this forum.

Some videos of him reading taken in May and June.

Wowwww proud mom of Zaja.

You certainly have to be proud of Zach. I saw on the posts that he started with LR at 11 month old. At 2 he was reading very large books. it is amazing, even to read the words over a green backgound. When is he going to be 3 rs old. My grandson at 2 did not speak clearly, less read the words. I hope that if a have a grandson from my daughter i will surely follow your doings. Being my son’s son, it is difficult.
Congratulations, you have a lot to be proud of.

another set of awesome videos! Do keep them coming!!

Zach is so adorable! He also obviously loves to read!

Zaja, bravo on such great progress!!!

What would you say is your favorite combination of teaching aids?
(Other parents always ask this question of parents with early readers, don’t they!!!?? We can’t help it!!!)

You mentioned LR, but did you show Zach videos too? Paper Flash Cards, phonics, etc.?

Zaja,
Your son is the first boy I saw here who progressed so well in reading.

Is your son bilingual or multilingual? I wonder if he is, how is his reading in other languages?

I also want to know what else did you use to teach him reading, paper flash cards? or other educational programs.

Thanks a lot of sharing. Great job!!!

Michael’s mom

Congratulations ZaJa!!! Your son is amazing and you did a great job!!! And thank you so much for sharing. Videos like these are very inspiring. Karma to you for your hard work and for your baby brilliance

Go go ZACK!!! Excellent job…Reading is such a fun activity!!Good job.

Wow! He is amazing! Great job Zack and Zaja.

Thank you so much 2010BEBES, KL, mom2ross, Michael2009, sveta09, PY and sunmoonstar23 for your kind words. They are very flattering. You must all be commended too for all your hard work in teaching your little ones.

@mom2ross - Apart from LR, I use various things such as printed flash cards, videos (started with YBCR, Tweedlewink, Signing Time and Babybit then a host of different ones after), Starfall and LeapFrog for phonics, Word games, books with big fonts, magnetic letters, alphabet and Word posters, educational websites. I only found out about Early Childhood Learning/Education when I stumbled upon Brillkids. My baby then was 11 months old. Prior to that I didn’t have a clue whatsoever that babies can be taught. I then began with LR along with videos and printed flash cards and books soon after. He then started sight-reading some words a few weeks after and at 22 months (when he was more verbal), he began to read words in the computer, on book or paper, etc. I would always read and point to words everywhere especially when we’re out. @Michael09 - Because my son reads phonetically, he is able to decode even unfamiliar words in a different language. He is able to read words in Filipino. without me teaching him the word. Would love for my son to learn Chinese and Spanish too. I showed him the Spanish part in Tweedlewink as well as Mandarin in Little Pim but I know he won’t learn the language just by showing the videos so I need to supplement it with other things and for me to study it as well. I plan to put him in a multi-lingual play group and enroll him in Mandarin classes next year so hopefully that helps.

@2010BEBES - He is a month shy of his bday. Good luck with your grandson.
