Hello there!
I’m new here and have to say it’s a great place! So much new and useful info!
I want my children to learn reading in mother tongue plus learning English (we are Russians) throuh Doman method.
Now, can anybody say me if there mishmash in kids’ heads??
How should I organize the process?
In native language I show flash cards with words only and read them.
In English I show a picture then a word with sound of it.
Is it right to teach both of these things in the same time?
How do you do this?
And I’m interested very much if somebody who attended Doman’s classes answer me.
Hi Anastasiya, like you, I would like to teach my baby my filipino language.Living in America and surrounded by american friends really a challenge because I no longer speak my language. Sometimes, when I speak to my baby, its always in english. But whenever I catch myself, I immediately speak my language. This is really hard too if you are married to american because the normal means of communication at home is in english. But what I suggest is to continue speaking to your child using your language whenever you can. It will eventually payoff. Bilingual kids always have an advantage and could have possibly high in IQ. So good luck and keep up the goodwork.
Thanks lol
Thanks again!!
It seems I was too lazy to search these threads >:(
I’ll look through…
