I live in chennai, India. I plan to enroll my son in shichida academy in singapore after he completed LR sem2. Or when he is 1.5yr old. Is there anyone from my hometown or nearby here who would want to enroll alongside so we have company in each other?
I have also spoken about PG accomodation and I shall make details available. I m totally convinced about the methods and I really like the wholesome approach. Remember we need to apply now so as to get admissions in say 6 months. I m eager to see anyone would be interested to come alongside me = the term is for 3 months.
Hi Questers, It costs 1.4L totally. I have included cost of program, to and fro tickets, stay, food, transport. Not inclusive of shopping :). If we share say transport etc., cost would come down considerably.
Thanks for the info! Very tempting, but I guess its a little early at this point as my son will not be emotionally ready for it right now. He is going through a phase of stranger/separation anxiety, hence it may not work out well for us at this juncture. We might consider it when he is a bit older…
All the best for your kid, do let us know how it goes!
P.S.: For a baby this young, do they allow the parent to be with the baby during the classes?
I am doing LR semester 1 to my son and he is in the mid of it, Now i have started with LM, I would really like to know about the schichida academy, can you please give more details on that, i am a working mom.
HI Mirra,
It is good to hear that you are planning to come to SG to attend shichida class.
I am from TN(Was working in Chennai before coming here 7 years bef) , I would say attending shichida for 1 or 2 terms is not beneficial. You need to continue for atleast couple of years provided you do regular home practice.
Initially I had thoughts to enroll my daughter in shichida schools couple of years back but have dropped the idea because of waiting time and we are doing tweedlewink, wink ,shichida(had collected resources from lot of websites and started home practice).
This website www.sgparenting.com have lot of info on home training for shichida.
I would suggest you to rather attend tweedlewink overview course and wink overview course from rightbrainkids and do the training yourself at chennai. You can get lot of right brain materials from Ebay and other stores to ship to you to chennai.I would say that would be money well spend rather than you coming over to SG to attend a term.
One of the store which have good Right brain training materials in Singapore are www.mylearningkid.com
You can google and can find lot in China too. Here we join with friends to ship from China(As I cannot communicate in Chinese , I join the local parents here)
Dear mumof1,
Thanks a lot for the information. I would also like to know more about ESP and the concerned excercises, home practice, memory linking etc. Eagerly waiting to know
Vani
Hi Mirra and Vanni,
Think I was not clear in my post,I am currently in Singapore hence have more exposure to materials here as Chinese have quiet a no of materials.Japan ,Singapore, and Malaysia are the among the countries which have more parents practising rightbrain training than other countries, may be because of exposure to shichida and other centers in this region.
ESP is rather like guessing game. Some simple ways to do , initially you could hide a small object in one of your hand and ask your child to guess which hand it is in.
Can play ESP with matching memory cards,You need to have set of 2 similar cards .One set of card to lie on the floor turned upside down in a group of cards and you can ask your child to guess which is the matching card .You can initially start with set of 4 cards and gradually increase.
Linking memory - The children need to associate the pictures with a linking silly story.
You can download a sample of linking memory here:(need to sign in to view first) http://sgparenting.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=77
Rightbrainkids also have a linking memory set.Memory Magic has a CDROM called Silly Story for linking memory exercises.
Tweedlewink overview course will explain you how to start lessons for your child,Rightbrain training ,how to make your own materials, etc tand a lot more he usage of DVDs is only a small percentage in the course .And more is they give you good support.
Don’t think shichida teaches more elaborately to parents.
For shichida / right brain training you could use all those small toys from your child’s toy box creatively. But I make sure I don’t use the same materials for different activities atleast for next few weeks.
You can also google for shichida , there are quiet a no of blogs written by shichida parents to give idea regarding home practice.
Dear All
While I am a Tamilian (albeit not from TN), I am so glad you shared all this information. I had been concentrating on reading skills with my daughter (she just turned 2 about 2 weeks ago). But I have been meaning to use Schicida methods for a long time. The only trouble is that my work hours are long, I have a personal mental block as far as mathematics is concered, and I dont have much time to put all the materials together - which is why I mostly depend on materials downloaded from the internet. I am not sure if tweedlewink and wink program DVDs will be shipped to the UAE. But if they are, could someone share this information with me. In the meantime, I am going through all those useful websites you have suggested (momof1) to see if I can pull together enough material for my daughter as well… puff!!! these are times I wish we were in the Far East instead of the Middle East.
Hi,
Iam from chennai residing in US now.
I’ve heard about this “Little gems - infant education” which is in Chennai.
Do you have any idea about this course? Its Dr.Glenn Doman method of teaching
and they even start before birth ie.)they say they do training to simulate the babies
brain in the womb.Did anyone take this course ?Heard they have tamil flash cards.
Can anyone give some review about this? There is a programme called ‘Mazhalai manam’ in
jeya tv about this programme.
If there is some one out there who took this training or knew someone who is having
a child under this training ,can you give me some details about the material ,the course
and the training. Any review or some details should be fine.
Thanks.
