Math factor dots

A friend in my local homeschooling group shared this. It’s so cool. Math is beautiful.

And here’s a blog post with a few ideas on how to use it:

She references this blog, which has a higher quality image for a print-out:

I’m going to start with these, but I want to study these up to 144 to cover the 12 times tables.

Wow!! I love this! I hope my little one will enjoy them too. So much better than just dots, so pretty, with added information that dots don’t give.

Thank you so much for sharing.

it looks great! It is a deep night here so will show it to my daughter tomorrow
I think I will play it to my prescholl class children during their quiet time
Karma!

Tamsyn, I LOVE it! Thank you and karma to you for sharing. It is truly beautiful. What a great way to teach. I was even interested…I got to well past 144  I can’t wait to show my class this one on the big screen! Bt even my big. Girls will find this interesting.

Thank You sooooo much
Cayden loves this and is even showing more interest in Little Math. After watching this he verbally did +1 up to 30 before getting side tracked.

Hello,

I’ve created Factor Dot LR Categories, I will be sharing as soon as I can.

My son likes them! (Lets hope it lasts.)

Karma to you! I’m excited to see it!

Tamsyn - karma for the link to this post, I love it.

MamaOfWill - I cannot wait to see that file!

MamaofWill
K to you
Looks Great!

I showed this to my kids and went to have a shower. I got out and as I walked past they asked " hey mum how far does this go up to?" No idea hinny you don’t have to watch it all you know. " ok I think that’s enough then" I checked it later, they watched up to 10000 !!! Crazy kids

Wow 10000
Cayden has been mesmerized so I looked further into how this was created and found out about a book called You Can Count on Monsters
Here is a brief description and link if anyone else is interested
This special counting book visually explores the concepts of factoring and the role of prime and composite numbers. The playful and colorful monsters are designed to give children (and even older audiences) an intuitive understanding of the building blocks of numbers and the basics of multiplication. The introduction and appendices are designed to help adult readers answer questions about factoring from their young audience. The artwork is crisp and creative, and the colors are very bright and engaging.

Karma for the link - Just ordered it

Mela Bala, thanks for the link to the book, it looks great!

I think you might be able to download these Little Reader factor dots from here
http://library.brillkids.com/download.php?cid=1&tid=5&lid=&fid=9333 by the looks of it, but maybe you’ll have to wait for the category to be approved.

I’ve created Times Tables categories too, but didn’t upload them yet because I’m having some Little Reader display issues and waiting for help from BrillKids. The Times Tables categories display “12 x 12 = 144” as a word and then should display 5 jpeg files for the factor dots, “x” and “=” - but it’s not working 100% and I don’t know why.

I sorted the dots into categories by type, for instance primes, multiples, squares, but I’m not sharing them since all the dots cards I made are all ready in the uploaded category.

Thanks MamaofWill

I’m having the same problem in my little math lessons with showing operation signs. Thanks for reminding me to send them an email.

I’m gonna download it as soon as Cayden is done working on his laptop.

Mela Bala, MamaofWii, thank you so much for your patience. Our tech support team is away from the office till the 14th due to Chinese New Year and they will get back to you as soon as they are back.

In the meantime, MamaofWii, thank you for creating these categories, great idea, I am looking forward to use them as well!

Thanks Skylark  I knew there was a reason I hadn’t submitted the help ticket yet.
The You Can Count on Monster book came in and it is very colorful and clear to understand. Will definitely be a book to keep around for many years.
I also came across these factor triangles from the lakeshore learning website. Looks like something that can easily be made at home but when you are short on time…
