There are ways to make buying an interactive whiteboard / Smartboard cheaper. Such as using a wall, tv screen, blackboard etc and attaching a receiver to it.

There are sites for cheap or free learning activities to use on whiteboards.
such as:

for instance, you can use manipulatives such as those below, for encouraging speech in various languages, or you can use an interactive whiteboard.

There’s also another product called a SMART table which is like a smart board but on the top of the table the child sits at.
Massively expensive!

here’s some free resources for interactive whiteboards/Smartboards…

those I looked at closely could be used on a PC with a mouse, like any PC educational program.

Wow thanks. I use a projector on the side of the resource centers classroom. I use a white cloth or table cloth as my screen. Hey it works great. I love teaching in a group this way. The kids love it as well. We make the content as big as the wall. and for a fun activity have class outside at night on the side of the house or as we use our resource center. it is so fun to teach about the solar system this way.
Thanks for all of those great link! I am going to check them out in more depth, and add them to my link library.

When I taught in the public school we used smartboards. Have you seen the smart board that McDonalds came out with that actually teaches the children to be a customer and an employee. It is awesome. It has been a couple of years ago though.
