Human biology/anatomy for toddlers?

Anyone know a good website or book for this? I’m telling my 2.5 yr old about veins, bones, muscles, and have googled a lot but haven’t found what I’m looking for. I’d like good clear pictures. Anyone found any?

Try these:

Usborne’s got some good books:

ShenLi ~ What a great website with the videos. These might be a step or two advanced for my son, but really helps me focus on a kid friendly way to explain things.

Shen Li,

Thanks for sharing this website.
P/S: How do i give karma to u?

Alice, you have to have 10 posts before you can give karma.

No worries, Alice. Just happy to be able to help. By the way, I started a list of kid-friendly educational links on my blog:

Some of the sites were mentioned in this forum, others that I came across during my voyage of discovery with my kids.

I am using “The Flip flap body book” - its mostly about digestion, the senses and how a baby grows inside its mother. My daughter loves it and pays attention and it is fairly detailed for a toddler book.
There are a number of other books for preschoolers about the human body (Look up Human Body on amazon) but I found my daughter wasn’t as interested in these ones.

Here’s a pretty neat puzzle if you would like something hands-on to go along with your lessons: http://www.amazon.com/Beleduc-Your-Body-5-Layer-Puzzle/dp/B000ELWHUQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1273339100&sr=8-2 . I just bought it last week! It’s great for starting conversations and putting the concepts together.

Wow Shenlihow FANTASTIC! I just took a tour of the fire engine from the Usbourne books, I am SO excited!

Karma to you, and thank you for sharing.

Hello! I am new to this forum. I just read a cute book “Inside Your Outside” by Dr. Suess. Hope that helps.

Thank you, Sarah!

I’ve also got the Doman Bits of Intelligence cards for Organs of the human body. It comes with ten cards. Each card talks about a specific organ, e.g. brain, heart, liver, lungs, etc. On one side is the picture of the organ and behind it are ten facts about that organ. They recommend starting with four cards and flashing them to your child while you read the name of the organ out. Then flash them again reading the first bit of information on the back.

My son didn’t seem to pay attention when I did it that way, so I hand him all ten cards and ask him to choose one that interests him. Then I read out the back to him and try to relate it to his own body to make it more fun.

I am going to invest in the BIT cards I think Shenli. Did you buy the whole collection of the Doman BIT cards? I thought of purchasing a bunch of second habd books and making them into BIT cards, but I just don’t have the time!

Here are some that i use …

Dear Shen Li,
Where can i get the Doman Bits of Intelligence cards for Organs of the human body?
How does the picture look like? Is it very real?
How much is the cost?

Thanks for sharing.

You can buy them at the Gentle Revolution website for $19.95:

I bought them from a local distributor of Glenn Doman products so I didn’t have to pay for shipping.

The pictures look like diagrams from an anatomy book - so real enough.
