How to teach over 100 numbers for infant?

Hi,

How did you all teach your child over 100 dots? I have seen in a video in youtube, a small child, may be 3 yr old, learnt by shichida method doing math tough equations involving numbers over 1000…how was that possible? how do we teach quantity perception over 100? or is it necessary to teach that way?

Please advice.

Hmm, not sure how Shichida teaches high-number equations, but I don’t think they teach quantity recognition for numbers over 100 either.

Thanks for response. and sorry for delay in my response.

I guess we would start using numerals and not any more dots over 100. If I come to k now about anyother method, I shall come back here to share.

no you should go back to “DOTS” method… try to DIY some red dots flash card method by yourself lol

You mean if we have to teach him 455 or 466 or any big number I shall do the dot card for high numbers? The page wont have space to paste so much dots…

Mirra, for the larger numbers I seriously think the Abacus method is the best. I dont know if it makes sense… but I think it does.

Thanks for ur inputs indidee. I shall check that one. For now I shall use numerals, because for abacus he should be atleast 5 yr old i think. He is still a baby…

I agree… but knowing what I have read about him, I dont think it will be difficult to start slightly earlier. I am so inspired by him, that I am seriously starting the system with my daughter as well… She picks up languages easily ( coz I like languages) but I want her to be better at mathematics than I ever was… I think the abacus is a classic start
