How important is letter size?

After reading Doman’s book, I’m getting the impression that letters should be at least 3 inches high for tiny kids to register well.

But the Little Reader words aren’t really that tall…I downloaded the trial yesterday and played the first lesson…the slide presentations show words that are big, but not quite 3".

Now I’m wondering how important is that 3" height requirement…

What is sufficiently big?

Thoughts?

It’s a toughie…the bigger your screen the bigger the word. Same for Your baby can read and other dvds…big TVs have big words. Sometimes I think words can be too big…that the baby being flashed to by big words from a distance is the same as smaller words sitting closer. If the baby has to look from left to right to take a word in it’s too big. It should be able to be taken in with a glance.

I think the big words mostly apply for younger babies who’s vision isn’t fully developed yet. My son has never had any problem seeing the words. Your one year old will be able to see them just fine.
