Homeschooling Forums

There have been a few mentions in recent past of gems Brill Mommies (and daddies) have found in homeschooling forums. While BrillKids will always be my first love  (and I’m hoping this is not an impolite question) I’m wondering if you have any favourite forums devoted to homeschooling big kids. ie 5 years old and up (not specifically Early Learning sites).

Me too. I am still dabbling with the idea of homeschooling myself and I would love to talk with other parents who are doing ‘it’

Many of them are more of the “nature” not “nurture” camp, as we tend to be, but even so, I have found some good resources from them.

I don’t subscribe, but I have had many google searches that have led me here. It’s a great group of people overall.

My biggest one after BrillKids is my local homeschooling group(s), both on facebook and on yahoo. That’s where you’ll find potlucks, field trips, and free zoo days, so don’t forget to look there!

Yes those two are probably the best. They go off on some very irrelevant tangents at times. ( their moderators may not be as awesome as ours lol )
Sign up for a local one in your own country to keep on top of trends, curriculum changes in public school and legalities.
And also sing up for homeschool freebies and this one to get freebies and discounts on all your curriculum needs.

You might need a friend in the US for some of these deals but its good to know what’s available.

Never seen this before. Where is the forum - or is it just a resource site?

Actually there is another girfted homeschoolers forum…but I can’t think what it’s called just now. Anyone???

I’d love to know the other one. “Gifted Homeschoolers” has an active yahoo group and a facebook page. (https://www.facebook.com/GiftedHomeschoolersForum?ref=ts&fref=ts). Let it be known that I’m not endorsing them as much as sharing their group. I’ve had more than one debate with their members and I have a lot of differing beliefs, both about why kids are gifted, and politically. That said, they do have some great resources. I’m just not going to vouch for them if you decide you don’t like it.

My tribe is here. <3
