Join the HOMESCHOOLING CONTEST: Create a Monthly Theme Unit!

THEME: Baking, Cooking, Measuring, Following, Sequencing, and Early Math

DESCRIPTION: Contest is for the creation of a theme unit for early learners. The theme is anything that has to do with cooking and baking.

DURATION: Begins February 1st, 2012 Ends March 31st, 2012

JUDGES: me (motherofaith), Lappy, and Kezia :smiley:

JUDGING: We will announce the winners on April 2nd 2012

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING:

  1. creativity
  2. suitability for the early learner
  3. content

MANDATORY CONTENT: (any 2 of the below)
LR and/or Slide file
LR e-book file
Worksheets, games, etc.
Flashcards
LM file

FILE FORMATS:
For LR: *.cat / *.pl
For LM: *.lmtp / *.lmtm
*.pdf
*.doc / *.docx
*.ppt / *.pptx / *.pps

PRIZES: 1000 points for those who join, 7000 points to the winner

HOW TO JOIN THE MONTHLY THEME UNIT CONTEST: :smiley:

  1. Everyone can join the contest!
    > Each person can submit more than 1 unit
    > Two or more persons may work on a unit together

  2. Your unit must contain any 2 from the “Mandatory Content” list
    > You may add more content than what is required

  3. Your unit must contain your original work

  4. Submit your unit(s) via either of these methods:
    a) Zip all files in your unit and upload the zip using the BrillKids File Uploader at http://d2.brillkids.com/upload/ and post the filename for your zip file
    OR
    b) If you uploaded your files (individually) at any of the Forum downloads libraries, please post the filename and download page URL for all the files included in your unit

  5. Post your entry in this thread. Make sure to include these details:

    Filename for your zip file (if you submitted via method 4a)
    Filenames and download page URLs for ALL the files in your unit (if you submitted via method 4b)

A list of activites example are;
measuring water into measuring cups and graphing the results from various sizes of measuring cups
measuring ingredients for baking gingerbread men or in this case shamrock cookies
stacking measuring cups inside each other
ordering from smallest to largest, etc.

so I hope that these few resources will inspire you to create your very own theme unit.
