Home Made Writing Tool

I purchased those crayons and markers that crayola makes for toddlers that look like balls. My child loves them, but I can’t find the replacement crayons so I decided to make my own. I took an old toy or Leggin container and slit the top just enough for the crayon, and placed the crayon in. It works great. Below is a pic.

Wow! That’s an awesome idea!

When you are on a tight budget you think of things all night to come up with something. You can also use model magic around the crayon or pencil, modeling it to your child’s finger grips, and allow it to mold and harden. It works great.

Sorry, I don’t really get it… why do you need a crayon with a ball stuck at the top?

They are supposed to help a toddler grip them

that was a great idea of the converted legging container but I come from an old school of thought about handwriting. I personally have not used the tadoodle products . IMO, they allow the use of certain muscles which are not precursors to writing (mass prehension versus tripod pinch). I believe in pre-writing activites which then lead to effective tripod pinch. I think this topic was discussed a few months ago.

I think that it wasan awesome idea. I wil defintely have to try that when my baby is able to write or at least attempt to write and color.

Thank you for all of your input.
The reason also I had this idea was because I couldn’t find the replacement crayons for the above picture of Tadoodles, and I knew I couldn’t afford them either. My son has trouble grasping onto the big crayons so we bought the tadoodles recommended by a therapist.
