I’m after some advise from the more technical minded of you - I have no idea what to do.
Windows changed drive to a dynamic drive and partitions were deleted. Not exactly sure what this means except the baby video and photos are gone - and they were not all backed up.
Can the data be recovered? easily? or do we need to take it to data recovery company.
I would really appreciate any suggestions
Oh no! That happened to us last year - we lost ALL of our baby pics and videos when our hard drive AND external back-up drive crashed. We took the computer to the place we had bought it from, paid an $80 “diagnostic fee”, only to have them return it to us two weeks later saying they couldn’t retrieve anything! So upon a colleague’s recommendation, we sent the computer to www.essdatarecovery.com (800-237-4200) and they were able to retrieve everything. However, be prepared to spend $$$. 
Now, all our files are triple-backed up.
