Hello from Timisoara, Romania!

Hi everybody!

Let me begin by saying that this forum and all the people here are amazing!!! I have come to this forum on several occasions, and each time I’ve been awed by the way you teach your children!

I have a 4.5 year old that I’ve raised bilingual, in English and Romanian, then I’ve added French and now we’re learning Spanish as well. I have a blog where I documented our learning journey for the last year. (http://ourenglishhomeschool.blogspot.ro/)

Right now, I am looking for resources to help her with Spanish - we used with good results Little Pim, Speekee, Salsa TV and other things that I’ve posted on the Spanish Learning page of the blog (http://ourenglishhomeschool.blogspot.ro/p/spanish-learning.html).
So – if you can please recommend some Spanish materials - free, if possible - online, on youtube etc. She’s watching Dora, Mickey, Caillou in Spanish - I don’t know, what else is out there? In Spanish.

Also, I’m looking for a phonics-based approach to teach her to read in French. Does anyone know a blog, or something, that had the Montessori-type reading materials in French? (My daughter reads in English, with phonics, I taught her the Montessori style).

Thank you!
Adina

Welcome!

Welcome! You might find these Spanish resources helpful. They have interactive power points using Spanish syllables to teach reading and spelling in Spanish. My four year old seems to like it. Its great for young ones who are not necessarily strong in handwriting. Too much handwriting for my four year old leads to unnecessary frustration for me. I think teaching reading in Spanish using their syllabary is definitely a beneficial way to read anything in Spanish.
