Hello and a question

Hello Everyone,

My name is Jude. I live in Epsom in the UK with my husband Barry and our little 10 month old Lilla. I started Little Reader and Little Math with her 3 months ago now. She seems to love Little Reader but not as keen on Math.
I am Hungarian and we are bringing her up bi-lingual. Does anyone have any experience with teaching a bi-lingual baby Little Reader? Does it take longer for them to process information? Also when we are doing a session, I tend to call things out for her in Hungarian as she hears them in English. Is this okay to do or will it just confuse her? I’m really excited to be using Little Reader and Little Math!!

its ok to use more than one language with the kids. i use English n Dhivehi ( Maldivian language) together from infant age, n both my kids are doing good at both the languages, i also introduce Spanish to them and they are showing interest to the new language.

Hi Jude,

I’m Polish and my partner is English, I am also using Little Reader for teaching my daughter to read. I have started when she was 17 months, so it’s around 6 months now. I know she can recognize some words in written language, she have read something couple of times, but generally she is not interested in showing how much she knows. I don’t know whether it is because she is raised bilingual or not. She loves to read books with mommy or daddy and she does notice words and tries to read them, but usually she says her own description. I try to use only English while we do the sessions, but during the day we tend to switch languages quite often. I think sooner or later she will learn, and I am now focusing on doing the sessions regularly and read lots during the day. We also supplement with Reading Bear and she likes that one as well.
