I just thought that I would let you know that www.bookdepository.co.uk sells heaps of books majority you can get on Amazon and ship any where in the world FOR FREE and the best part is that their prices on the books a very comparable to Amamzon to.
I hope this helps alot of parents out there.
I have used it to buy my text books from for University and I can say they are very good.
Just to add to the previous message (Thanks Kimba15)
For people in US or where your local currency has a better exchange rate with USD than Pound - www.bookdepository.com now exists too.
The free shipping is pretty much world wide. The delivery is reasonably fast for standard international delivery (from an Aussie perspective)- but obviously if you need something in a hurry you’ll have to use a supplier with expedited delivery. Also I’m not sure how it compares with ordering from Amazon using standard shipping if you live in the USA. The only delay I had was when Europe was covered in volcanic ash and all planes were grounded
For Aussies - if you know what you want - try the following search engine which trawls through online book stores and calculates in Aussie Dollars the cost of the book including postage and handling: www.booko.com.au They get a small commission if you click on their link and you purchase the book.
Wow thanks a lot for these sites! I’ve been searching everywhere online for places from UK, Aus or US that ships free internationally or at least at a reasonable international shipping price. I live in Europe and it’s so expensive when America or Australia has the best stuff if the UK doesn’t have what i’m after and all the things I REALLY need America doesn’t ship outside US with Canada an exception.
Is everything you order free or there is a hidden catch if you order something else apart from books? If I wanted to order for e.g. just the vegetables (Poster) from book depository, that will remain free? It might sound silly to ask but some have a hidden catch and I like to be sure first. I just went and bought books last night off Amazon and it was a little bit more expensive by just a few cents though.
Does anyone know if there is places where you can order supplies online to use for homeschooling or any learning environment that will ship internationally for free if you buy a minimum amount? if not for free then at least internationally? I browse a lot of American homeschooling blogs and when I see the bargains they find from Walmart or dollar stores, I wish I could jump on the first plane to America and live there.
Thanks for telling us about the book depositry website - I have been trying to find some books from the Headstart website reading list that weren’t available on Amazon in the UK and I couldnt find them elsewhere either - have now though and am well happy - as you say comparable to Amazon and free delivery - tho it is worth checking against Amazon for the ones you can get there too - sometimes the price difference is only a few pence sometimes a pund or two - but fab website nonetheless -thanks you
Fine place to look for books but i found amazons price much cheaper. I was looking for ‘Becoming yhe Parent you Watn to be’ and found at US$ 19 while at amazon it is US$ 14.28. But… you need to get something else (up to US$ 25) for free shipping (to a single U.S. Address).
Very good if you need to be shipped otherwhere.
Thanks
Thanks Kimba for sharing this excellent site. I just placed an order for the book ‘Toy tips’ which had 50% off.
Koukla, even I have the same problem as yours. I live in Europe and I dont find anything at a cheaper price especially when it comes to books or homeschool supplies.
I think Amazon is great if you live in America or Canada but if you live anywhere else they certainly slug you for shipping that’s why it is important to share sites like this so we can help each other out.
