I wanted to share this great find in art books for children. The series is called I spy … in Art and has colours, alphabet, shapes, numbers, animals and (apparently, though I have not managed to find a copy) transport.
The author has put together an incredible and diverse collection of famous art and picked out various points in the pictures. These are often not the main focus of the image. For example, something beginning with ‘i’ is the inkwell in Botticelli’s Madonna of the Magnificat.
I found them in London’s Tate gallery, and was so impressed!
