My boy and I regularly play “how about right there.” We get out the globe and then we spin the globe and say, “We’re going to take a trip. Where should we go? How about right…there!” We close our eyes and put our fingers somewhere on the globe and press down to stop it. Then we talk about the place where we “landed.” Usually it’s ocean (of course), unless you pick a spot in the northerly latitudes, but we’ve landed in all sorts of interesting places. Once we actually landed where we live–a very rare occasion. Great fun…
I love the globe idea as well! There is also a toy out there, not sure who makes it, that let’s kids explore the globe via an “airplane handle” and “airplane sounds” which allow them to land on an area with a magnifying glass and find out some tidbit about where they landed. This could then be expanded as above.
