French ressources

Could those teaching French to their children paste links of the websites they use, so this thread becomes a kind of French library? Websites with videos, flashcards to download and the likes.
A great and free website I use is http://www.imagiers.net/
They have many files to print as well as videos.

A must read is this blog http://languageforlittlelearners.blogspot.com/
You’ll fnd lots of ideas to teach French, and many are for non speaker parents.

thanks a lot, I’m non-speaker and I’m trying to teach my kids, that will really help me.

You’re welcome. And let us know if you come accross a good site.

For those of you teaching their children to read in French, I’ve just purchases Baby Bit in French and highly recommend it! This is the next best-thing to the LR curriculum, YBCR, TW etc… (For those who have BB in English, it’s exactly the same content)

It follows Doman closely: words flashed quickly, written in red, picture second, maths dot and 3 short sessions (i’d say less than 2, 3 mn) per day (Week 1, Monday, A, B, C)

My daughter loves it and asks for more… Great program! A little expensive but will last a long time as it covers so many weeks.

Hi, thanks for the tips - where can I purchase it!??

Hi Hypatia. It says on the website (I hope i have the correct one, babybit.com?):

“Necessary repetition as the basis of the methodology to ensure the consolidation of learning.” Does this not go against right brain education? How many times is it repeated? They say it’s repeated the entire week, just in different orders?

Would you mind letting me know a little more about what you’ve discovered about this program?
thank you!

Hi Sarah
After I read your message, I decided to go through the entire dvd and realized the words were all the same for the week. (I had not realized it before as the words are all mixed up)
That’s a bit disapointing.
What I’ll do is play a different week each day.
Thank you for pointing it out.

It’s not everyday i find French printables, so here you go:
This is a memory sound where you match the phoneme (‘au’) to the word (‘automobile’)
A good introduction to phonics, I think I’ll introduce the game to my 2yo soon.
(It comes from this website: http://aufildesjours-claudia.blogspot.com/ )

hypatia,
I like the figures and the idea of french phonics. Is ther a way we can have an audio of the words? It would be very helpfull for us that know too little french.

Maybe someone knows a web site wher you can type a word and it is spoken?

Also thanks a lot for bringing up this thread, I really miss it before and there are very interesting places.
Karma to all of you for such great links.

I really appreciate the work all of you have done posting your links. I am looking for a DVD with real people speaking French. Cartoons don’t show the movement of the lips and proper way to pronounce the words as well as real people.
Thanks, Tracy

You can find faces and help with the pronunciation (speech waves) on Rosetta Stone language that has many languages. Nvertheless it is Very expensive.
