dyslexia

yesterday we came to know that my brother’s son is having problem of dyslexia. he is 8 yrs old.
he is very intelligent . all the teachers of his school know him because he good at sports too.
In the last parents meeting his teacher told us that he is got some problem with reading & writing so we should see a doctor.
doctor told us that he is got dyslexia. according to him the problem is not that bad & it can be solved but it will take at least 2-3 years. he suggested a teacher who will help him after school.

I was keen to know that can anyone give some suggestions as to how we can help him to get out of it.

I have some acetate color overlays that seem to help my son read better. My son is only 6 yrs old - and has many learning difficulties. He may have dyslexia but he is too young to determine it yet. Anyway the acetate colored overlays are available thru the Irlen Institute. Here is their web address:

Good Luck, Lori

I came across the attached articles from a teacher’s website who is a phonics supporter. I hope the articles help you. If you need more information, you can PM me or you can read more from http://www.donpotter.net/ and http://www.alpha-phonics.com/

Thanks a lot Lori & Momtoo.

apparently dyslexia can be made to “disappear” while person wears glasses of a certain colour… they have to be tested to find out what colour will work for them.
