Dry cough and rattling sound

Hello all,

my 7mths old son has just recovered from fever and caught a dry cough with rattling sound coming from him. its kinda worrying for me as i am afraid he may get some kind of disease or something like that. does any of you gone thru this?

also, when he got the fever, 3 hrs before i fed him mango with banana for his snack. i dont really know if that is cause of his fever and cough.

please help

Hello my friend with bananna and mango or any other fruit you will not get fever. For his dry cough try to make moisture in his room .Like a bowl with water and eckwaliptus assence .It will help .You can put some vicks at the bottom of his foot.Alway check for the fever and if it goes up soak his feet in water .Hope i was a help to you

Thank you very much for your reply.

he no longer has fever but he is still coughing at the moment at least 10 times a day. i am already applying vicks on his sole and i hope it will get better.

lets wait and see.

thank you once again

I forget to tell you to put him socks after the vicks. to help slice an onion put a table spoon of sugar in a bowl make an net on it and leave it for the night outside .Be sure that no rain gets in it.In the morning give him 2 teaspoon from the juice .This is what they used to do before medicine in the old days.Iused to do it with my kids and worked instead of giving him antibiotics. Hope you understand me as i am not very good at writing.Good luck

My mother used to give us hot milk with honey and butter for cough. But I am not sure if you can give this for a seven-month old baby. Do you give honey to your son? I think that honey is allergen. I know that for older children it works perfectly well. Hope your son will get better soon.

Nowadays kids under 2 arent allowed to hace cough medicine in Australia, which is sad because what do you do to help them stop coughing when medicine works the best?? Azaria started having a cough early in the morning, a phlegmy chesty cough, which only happens in the early morning in bed and when newly up for the day. Turns out it’s hayfever. (allergic rhinitis) (It’s spring here). Dont know if it’s grass or feathers in my doona or flowers or cats or what, but I feel sorry for her. Apparently there are hayfever treatments for over 12 months old, but what about before that?? What do you do then?

I also used vicks to my son when he was having a flu. He’s coughing, runny nose and have a fever, I was so worried about it because I give him already medicine but his cough is still there for almost 1 month but his pedia say that maybe its because he’s teething.

Had you also experience that your son is coughing because he’s teething?

I think coughing because of teething can be caused by excessive drool.

I have also heard of using honey to help a cough, but it is not recommended for kids under 2 years of age due to botulism.

Hi, I rub vicks on the soles of my children’s feet when they have any cough or flu. It supposedly will ease them and help them sleep better.

Cough mixtures off the shelf is not recommended for young children unless it comes from a doctor.

my daughter also had cough and she feels very difficulties in breathing. i want doctor for many times but we don’t get a result.

then my mother make oil ( boil olive oil and garlic)then give 1 to two ml on bed time and apply vicks on her chest and sole. this would be very great and give result within two days.

I never heard about this olive oil and garlic, I’ll try also this one next time.
