Do I leave it off as growing pains?

My son has been crying out loud in the middle of the night on and off more than 5 times in last 5 weeks. He usually do not complain of pains or hurt. But these night he just go on crying sometimes even with eyes closed, and in terrible pain. At first I thought it could be arthritis as it runs badly in his family.

I checked with his pediatrician 2days ago and he said its highly unlikely to be arthritis but it could be rickets. Have done the tests and awaiting results.

But today he seems to be really down with the pain, hes complained about it 3 times from late afternoon. And I massaged it till he could sleep in the night.

What could it possibly be? just growing pains? but i dont notice it being worse on active days cos hes ALWAYS active, be it all alone at home, hes running around with the ball kicking and I can rarely sat him down!

I’m very concerned as its coming in too close timings now!

Where are the pains and how old is your son?

Did they do x-rays? I ask because my sister had similar problems and it was “just growing pains”, however, my father was very upset and concerned by the whole thing because his sister had died of osteosarcoma (a bone cancer that usually starts in the legs, on the shin below the knee) and her symptoms were the same. So most likely it is nothing but I would encourage a full evaluation.

He’s 32 months old and the pains under the foot and in ankles.

His tests result shows increased levels of serum alkaline phosphate, phosphorus and serum calcium! which according to an ortho doc (bone specialist) confirms hes got rickets! the thing is he hates milk or any diary product and broccoli! so now giving him oranges and anchovies.
hopefully will be able to show to his pediatrician today!
