Digital Natives, Learning Styles, and Neuroplasticity

An interesting read. In the effort of full disclosure, this is written by a man who creates game style curricula for a living, but it’s a good read nonetheless. Traditional school days may not be the best way to teach a digital native generation.

Look now I am shocked. This is actually the blurb I got in my children’s school news letter! It is an interesting read. Oh and I must say I feel a whole lot better about my age after reading through this. It appears my late start to the digital age hasn’t effected me at all lol

I find it very validating to my children’s learning style. That’s not to say that they can’t benefit from classic literature as well, for example, but they just pick things up so easy through technology (esp ipad). It’s good to know your school is progressive to this sort of thing! My husband referenced some similar occupational training games a while ago when he told me a story about veteran, traditional ITs/programmers versus some new kids on the block. They put the new, very wet behind the ear trainees through just a year or two of intense gaming style training. In the end, they were either matched head to head or the new kids beat the old dogs, I can’t remember the outcome at the moment. But it really works and is very efficient financially and time wise.

Oh, and I just realized this article has a part 1:
