chunking without dots??

hi all:
i’ve been reading an article about chuncking and math. my DD is over 2 and we have done all of the doman/shichida dots and equations and have transitioned to numerals. while she has been counting to 100 for some time now and can do simple equations (through our activities through dr. jones) we are ready for bigger things. any ideas how to use this chunking method for teaching math with numerals? i have heard that it is great to teach instant math quantity recognition… but i’m not quite sure how to do this with numerals . any ideas?
