Chemistry Textbook suggestions?

My 8 year old wants a chemistry textbook. He has experience with his chemistry sets and books for younger children, but he wants “an adult book, with small print and over 100 pages that explains things. Not just how to do experiments.” I don’t want to actually get him a college level text, but maybe middle school or high school. He is requesting the same thing for physics. I have given him many general books on these subjects, but I think he wants something more meaty. I was wondering if any Brillkids parents have any suggestions to start me off?

Following.
I have asked this question and got a few ideas but no perfect fit. We got some great beginner suggestions though. I know exactly the level you want and I want it in Biology and physics too
Here is one we like but it is probably too easy for what you are looking for.

My plan was to go shopping at a school or university text book store…

Hi Linzy,

I will try to answer your question as best I can. I am having a bit off a block at the moment. Anyways, have you looked into Real Science 4 kids High school chemistry textbook? The goal of Real science 4 kids is to reach children of all grade levels science concepts they will see in college. And also teach the college concept and vocabulary awareness of these such topics in these grade levels, so when the child/ dren encounter this topic information in college, they will be better prepared. Here is the link: http://store.gravitaspublications.com/high-school-grades-9-12/highschool-chemistry.html#

This book is as available on Amazon and this is the only textbook available by this company for this grade level.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestions! I’m going to check those out. we were thinking about Elements:Ingredients of the Universe, but I’m worried that he is gong to be disappointed that it is still not the level he was looking for.
