Cd Rom's not Compatibale w/New Computers

:noo: :oh:   :huff: HELP ME

We recently moved (six months ago) and have really just now settled down! We have also converted all computers and laptops over to Apple. I thought nothing of it, until today when I tried to begin our BrillKid reading program. It didn’t work and I got a message basically saying,“not compatible”. Have any of you had this happen? I have sent a message to customer service, but with the time difference, I know that there will be a wait for a reply. I am curious as to what their policy is. Do they replace at no cost? Do I have to pay to have it replaced? Does it even come Apple compatible? Thanks in advance for your help, advice, and suggestions!

lol :thumbs down: DRAT, I read further into their systems requirements and it does specifically say that it is not for Apple systems. However it says that there are two possible ways that it could be used… Could anyone explain these ways in a detailed explanation that would really be easy to understand? Thank you!

Hi TWilson9608,

As you’ll see in our website and online store, we only advertise that our programs are Windows-compatible. We never advertised that our programs are compatible with Mac, Linux or any other OS other than Windows.

While we don’t officially support Macs, here are two workarounds that you can do:

1. Install Windows OS in your Mac using Boot Camp, Parallels, or other similar utilities

We do have several customers who have been using our programs on their Macs via this method for quite some time now. Boot Camp is the usual choice since it comes built into Mac OSX and newer, so the only additional purchase would be the Windows OS installer (unless you already have one).

For more information on how to set up Boot Camp on your Mac, you may refer to either of these links:

BrillKids Support - http://support.brillkids.com/entries/20426792-how-to-get-windows-running-on-your-mac-bootcamp
Apple Support - http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/

In case you need help with setting up Boot Camp, we suggest you contact Apple Support - they can help you via phone, or you can set an appointment for a visit to the nearest Apple Store.

Once Windows OS is running in your Mac, you can reinstall Little Reader, Little Math and/or Little Musician as if you were on a Windows PC. We’ll be happy to assist you through the reinstall process upon request.

2. OR if you have an iOS or Android device, you can use the Little Reader Touch app instead

The app itself can be downloaded for free from the App Store or via iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/little-reader-touch/id467596498?mt=8

We also have an Android version of the app (also available for free from the Google Play Store).

The Little Reader Touch app’s primary function is for playing lessons. It doesn’t have the full lesson customization features that Little Reader (PC) has. If you are only interested in using the pre-made lessons, then you may choose to simply use the app instead of setting up Little Reader through the Mac Boot Camp option.

To access your full curriculum for playback in the app, you just need to buy iAccess: https://user.brillkids.com/onlinestore/lrt-iaccess.php

Once you have iAccess, follow the steps here to get your full set of lessons in the app: http://support.brillkids.com/entries/21098491-how-to-install-and-play-courses-on-little-reader-touch

Note that iAccess is a one-time purchase that will work for all Little Reader curricula you own or those you will buy in the future (e.g., if you buy the French curriculum next year you don’t need to buy iAccess again). Also, iAccess will let you download your courses on UP TO 3 iOS or Android devices.

We hope this information helps!
