awesome animal alphabet book

http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Wikijunior_Animal_Alphabet/All_pages

this is a very cool, high-quality animal alphabet book for your child to view online, or you can print it. It is from wikimedia, so the pictures are very good. I am going to convert this to LR soon. But in the meantime, enjoy!

I have already converted the pictures into a LR file. It is about 6 MB in size. I am thinking of adding pronunciations, but have not done that yet. If you don’t mind, I can upload as is.

Wow, really?? After I said I was going to do it?

oh wow - thanks for this link I hadnt heard of this bit of wikipedia before - its brill!

nhockaday- you do find some amazing sites!

Just to let everyone know I will have this file uploaded for LR later tonight.

Haha… this is amusing. nohockaday is having competition to convert the file and upload to LR. Anyway, just let us know once it’s up. I"m going to get my LR soon.

Actually, it is not a competition. I said in my original post that I would have it done soon, and I will. Next time I will wait to post something until after I make use of it first.

Hi nhockaday, nice job.love this animal alphabet book, nice image.

Thank you. It is now available for download into LR http://forum.brillkids.com/downloads/?sa=view;id=6350

Thanks nhockaday for the great work!! The picture quality is great!!

So I guess the lesson here is… dont tell anyone your LR ideas before you do them! Even if they were already working on the same project, you’ll want to get yours uploaded first! I’m hoping my ideas are so “OUT THERE” no-one will think of doing them before I get around to it. And I know to wait until I do the whole lot of that subject before uploading, so I dont give anyone else ideas!!

There’s a video of it on this website, without the written “h is for hedgehog” in between. That looks like a good website.
Lots of curriculum things for all ages.

Here’s another great site, with an animal alphabet talking book, and great quality absolutely free photos to use.
And videos to watch, info for homeschoolers etc.

Thanks Nikki and Nikita too!! Nice work and links. I didn’t know of Wikijunior either

When I read this I assumed mas2in had been working on it before nhockaday posted the link but just didn’t have the time to record sounds.

This is exactly what I did. I had the pictures for my slide slow (powerpoint) done for a month before I could get around to making sound. My house is small and I can never find time to record without the kids yelling in the background or without waking them from their nap. I finally found some sound files online to add, otherwise it would probably still be unfinished. I had spent hours generating the graphics in Photoshop and was very concerned somebody would get it done first, so I just kept my idea to myself the whole time. But then if somebody else came along and said they were planning on doing the same thing after I had done all that work I would have been very disappointed.

my dd is in LOVE with this one. when she sees the computer she starts yelling ‘fgh’ which is her way of asking for the alphabet. she loves the meerkat one the most and gives herself a hug when she see it. i love that it goes on a little longer so that i can get a few things sorted (is that bad?) before the next activity. so hurrah for however it got up there! big karma!

wikipedia is great resource the wikijunior they also have it in spanish _ wikichicos:
in spanish they don’t have as much content but i am sure soon they will.

Thanks for the tip!
