Good Morning.
When the girls showed me that they had written their names (not perfectly, but very close!) on their writing boards, I was suprised and excited, because I have not really shown them how to write. They learned some writing in their part-time Montessori pre-school. And they have completed a few of the Kumon “First Steps Workbooks” as fun activities at home for coloring, folding, and we are about halfway done with the cutting book: http://kumonbooks.com/catalog/catalog_firststeps.aspx
I have Dr. Gentry’s book, “Raising Confident Readers: How to teach your child to Read and Write, from Baby to Age 7” and am happy that they are officially at “Phase 1” now!

Last month, I purchased and downoaded IAHP’s - The Evan Thomas Institute’s “How to Teach Your Baby to Write”, and am reminded that I need to actually read it! Has anyone else used it?:

And how does it compare to the Kumon Verbal Skills books for uppercase and lowercase writing?:

I went ahead and ordered the Kumon uppercase and lowercase writing books, in addition to the numbers ( 1 - 30) since I am focusing primarily on creating Qur’anic Arabic materials, I can use these until I am able to create additional materials that I assume will be needed for the Doman writing program.
What are your experiences with teaching writing and what programs have you used?
