Mu daughter was repeating the word ‘shui’ (water) today after watching Ni Hao Kai Lan on TV (similar to Dora but with chinese word and culture), so I was looking for the correct pynyin spelling and found this site:

You can input in so many ways including imprecise pinyin, characters you have cut and pasted, draw a character, english etc, and it gives you a whole slew of suggestions you can use to narrow down your search.
