I was reading some things about photo eye play and such, and they said one thing they wanted to encourage was seeing after-images. I’m not quite sure how that helps in the long run (if someone knows, I’d love to hear why it is important), but trusting that it is helpful I was doing some searching on the web and came across this website that has very cool afterimaging illusions. My boys thought it was great and wanted to keep looking at them. (I guess that is good eye practice, right?) The interesting thing was that my 6 yr. old had a difficult time doing it. I didn’t try it on my 20 month old, as I don’t think he’ll stare at the dot.
Well, I hope y’all have fun, too. And if anyone understand the benefits of afterimaging, I’d love to understand it, too.
Here are the steps: Stare at the dot in the middle of the pic for 20 seconds or more. Continue to stare at the dot, without moving your eyes. The black and white image will seem to be in color now.
