I just picked up The Very Hungry Caterpillar today! I plan to use several of the ideas in this site!

Also, somewhere out there in blog world a mom or montessori teacher (sorry I can’t remember) suggested sewing a button to either end of a pretty little ribbon (one smaller, the other quite large). She then cut out shapes (I plan to cut out the fruit shapes from TVHC and cut little slits (like a button hole) in the middle of each shape. The child can then take the end of ribbon with the small button and push it through the button hole (learning to button). The large button on the end prevents the shapes from falling off. As you read TVHC your child can find the corresponding fruit(s) and “button” them onto your ribbon.
